Missing girl, 9, found after vanishing on way home from Essex school sparking police search

A GIRL who vanished on the way home from her school in Essex has been found safe.

Police called for help after Teigan Rafferty disappeared in her school uniform just before 5pm yesterday in Corringham.

The nine-year-old was walking in Herd Road with a bag before she went missing.

Police launched a search for the youngster last night.

In an appeal to the public, they said: "She's 4ft 6/5ft tall with long brown hair in a ponytail. Any info call 101 or 999."

But just hours later, they told followers: "Good news!

"Teigan has been found.

"Thank you for your help in sharing our appeal, it really does make a difference."

This comes after police launched a desperate search for a 12-year-old girl in the North East.

Ruby Petty-Linton was last spotted around 8pm on Monday in the Hemlington area of Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire.

The teen was last seen wearing a black hooded top, a white t-shirt and black leggings.

She was also wearing grey and black Nike trainers.

Cleaveland Police have asked anyone who might have seen Ruby or know of her whereabouts to call them urgently.
